Tesla Reduced the Price: Customers Not Satisfied With This Decision?!
Customers of Tesla are feeling the pinch as a result of the automaker’s recent announcement of a major price reduction on its vehicles. Many customers who bought their Teslas just a few days or weeks before the announcement are now complaining that the price cut caused them to “lose $10,000 overnight.”
Business Insider reports that Aaron Brewer of Oahu, Hawaii, ordered a Model 3 on December 7 at a Honolulu store after Tesla reduced the cost of both that vehicle and the Model Y by $3,750. Tesla “nearly never has a discount,” he claimed a salesperson told him.
Later in December, though, Tesla increased the savings for both models to $7,500, and in 2023, it further reduced pricing.
Brewer claimed that losing the “euphoric sensation of being so thrilled with the car and replacing it with a feeling of being tricked” out of “several thousand bucks” was “very terrible.”
The seven-seat Model Y Long Range, according to Deborah Martin of Los Alamitos, California, was ordered in early January in order to qualify for the $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit, and Martin claims she was instructed to expect delivery between January 12 and March. She purchased the car for $76,440, which also included with the Enhanced Autopilot technology. Currently, the same setup she requested costs $65,630.
“So in 24 hours, before taxes, I lost $10,810,” she continued.
In addition, another customer who wished to remain anonymous for privacy reasons paid $69,000 for a Model Y and took delivery of the vehicle on October 1 of that year. The car’s basic price has been reduced from its former base of $65,990 to $52,990 as a result of subsequent price reductions.
