Lotus Emira 2.0: Pricing and Performance Unveiled for US Market
Lotus has revealed the starting price and performance figures for the highly anticipated Lotus Emira 2.0 in the United States. Making its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Emira showcases its impressive Mercedes-AMG-sourced four-cylinder engine. The sports car is set to go on sale in Europe later this year, with the US market receiving the First Edition model in the first quarter of next year. Excitement is building as Lotus enthusiasts can already explore the online configurator for the Emira 2.0, which reveals a starting price of $99,900 before destination and handling fees.
The configurator provides further details, confirming that the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will offer the same output on both sides of the Atlantic. Lotus rates this powerplant at 360 horsepower (265 kilowatts) and 317 pound-feet (430 Newton-meters) of torque. Developed by Mercedes-AMG and fine-tuned by Lotus engineers, the engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering power exclusively to the rear wheels. As a worthy successor to the Elise, Exige, and Evora, the Emira with the four-cylinder engine can sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 mph (290 kph).
The US online configurator also highlights two chassis options available for the Emira. The standard Touring chassis is optimized for everyday road use, striking a balance between performance handling and a more comfortable ride. For those seeking enhanced handling and performance, the Sports chassis offers a slightly stiffer setup, perfect for track enthusiasts. Additionally, customers can choose from three wheel designs, thirteen exterior colors, and seven upholstery options. It is expected that further customization options will be added upon the model’s US market launch.
In addition to the four-cylinder model, Lotus also offers the Emira V6, featuring a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine sourced from Toyota. Producing 400 horsepower (294 kW), this variant is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. In manual form, the Emira V6 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) in 4.2 seconds, while the automatic variant achieves the same feat in 4.6 seconds. The starting price for the Emira V6 in the US is $105,400 before the destination charge.
